Know your House

When you have properly understood the user's manual you need to scan your residence and locate the areas that are susceptible to intrusions. These areas may include the backdoor, the window at the attic or the backyard fence. You can do this by studying the blue print of the floor plan of your house or you can walk around your house to visually assess your property yourself.

Where to Place the Control Panel

The next is to locate the area where you need to place the control panel. The control panel should be strategically placed where you can easily find it but the intruders cannot, usually the control panels can be placed near your door that you generally use when entering into your house. Remember that the siren and the main control panel should be placed near electricity supplies. The control panel should also be placed out of children's reach.

Attaching the Device

The next thing to do when installing a burglar alarm is to place the sensors permanently to the vulnerable windows and doors. Then connect the sensors, the siren and the control panel together, this can be done using radio frequencies if your burglar alarm installation is wireless or you can connect the wires together if your using hard wired.

Simulate your Alarm

Simulate your burglar alarm system once everything is in place in order for you to see if everything is working as it should. If you are using hard-wired burglar alarms be sure to hide the wires connecting the sensors, siren and the main control switch.

Burglar alarm installation need not be complicated. Whether wireless or hard-wired, is very easy if you just know the basic steps and you read and properly understood the user's guide.
